More than 70 organisations have already signed up to offer students advice about entering the world of work and higher education at a careers fair to be held at Bilborough Sixth Form College.
Several of the region’s largest businesses will be among the exhibitors expected to attend the event at the college on Thursday, March 12th 2015.
They are set to include Boots, Kaplan Finance, KPMG and Baker Tilly Accountants although the definitive list will be finalised in the New Year.
Representatives from more than 30 universities and colleges – including those from the elite Russell Group of Universities – will also be at the careers fair and students will also be able to get advice from organisations about taking a year out and career development.
Helen Holden, Careers and Higher Education Manager at Bilborough College, said they had been overwhelmed by the response from organisations wanting to attend the event.
She said: “We have a really good mix of organisations and even more universities than last year with an increase in those coming from further afield.
“A lot of the links we have with some of the businesses are through former students who have gone on to work for these organisations.
“We are certainly seeing an increase in more of our students looking into the opportunities that apprenticeships can offer as well as exploring the possibility of going to university.
“At the fair, there will be something on offer for everyone from advice on gap years or progression to higher education and the world of work. This is a very popular event where students can get inspiration for their futures, whatever path they choose to follow and we also open it up to local schools in the area too.”
The careers fair is targeted at all 16-19 year olds at Bilborough College and partner schools studying A-levels or the IB with the intention to help raise their aspirations by showcasing the range of education, training and career opportunities that exist in the region and across the UK.
It will take place between 11am and 3pm in the Sports Centre at Bilborough Sixth Form College, College Way, Nottingham.
