Applications

September 2025 applications are open!

To begin your journey with us, just visit our Application portal.

In order to use our online application system you will need to register and provide us with an email address which we will use to keep you informed of how your application is progressing. Please take time to read through the information and advice on this page and get in touch if you have any queries – we’d love to hear from you!

Standard Entry Requirements
To study at Bilborough 6th Form College, you need at least five GCSE’s, including English and Maths, at grade 4 or above (one Level 2 BTEC at Merit or higher can count towards this).

Subject-Specific Entry Requirements
Some subjects have higher entry requirements to ensure you can manage the course content. Please refer to the guide for individual subjects.

Application Submission
Apply via our application portal. Once you have completed your application and pressed “submit,” it will be sent to us as a request. You will not receive immediate email confirmation. When we process your application, you will receive an email confirming that we have received it.

Please note: Applications are processed during working hours (Monday–Friday) within term time. Please allow at least 5 working days for your application confirmation to come through.

If you have submitted your application but missed something, please do not submit a second application. Instead, contact us at admissions@bilborough.ac.uk, and we will amend your application for you.

If you do not receive your confirmation email after 5 working days, please contact us to check on the status of your application. While this is rare, it can happen if:

  • You submitted an invalid or incorrect email address,
  • You submitted your application very close to the times when our backup processes run,
  • Our system was temporarily unavailable when you pressed submit.

Offers
From October half-term, we begin to issue provisional offers. As we are a large institution with a high number of applicants, this process can take some time. Don’t be concerned if you do not receive your offer immediately.
When you do receive an offer, a Provisional Offer leaflet with course requirements will be emailed to applicants and parents/guardians.

Taster Days
We hold Taster Days in July (dates tbc). These days give prospective students the opportunity to attend lessons in their chosen subjects, explore the building, meet potential classmates, and experience student life. This is also a great chance for students interested in multiple subjects to attend taster sessions and narrow down their choices.
Invitations for Taster Days are sent out in February/March, with final details (timetables, bus schedules, etc.) sent out in June. Failure to respond will result in withdrawal from Taster Day participation, so please do let us know if you are unable to attend.

Enrolment
After our Taster Days, you will receive a letter inviting you to enrol with us.
We enrol over three days, but enrolment is not on a first-come, first-served basis, so there is no need to worry about which day you are assigned.
If you cannot attend an enrolment day, please email admissions@bilborough.ac.uk with your official GCSE results and confirm your chosen subjects. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you no longer wish to enrol with us.

At enrolment, you will have a discussion with an enroller about your chosen subjects (you will need to bring evidence of your GCSE results). Subject changes are possible at this point, though we cannot guarantee availability in all subjects. You will be issued a student ID and a lanyard. We have a strict lanyard policy to ensure the safety of our students. Please make sure you wear your lanyard at all times on the college premises. You will also receive a Welcome Pack containing start-of-year details and information about enrichment sign-up.
