On 12th March 2025, Bilborough College’s Young Enterprise team achieved a remarkable victory, winning the Innovation Award at the Nottingham regional ceremony held at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Competing against 12 other teams from local schools, our students showcased their creativity, resilience, and entrepreneurial flair, securing this well-deserved accolade.
A Winning Idea: Supporting Children’s Mental Health
Our award-winning team of five—Amaan Rashid, Aaminah Aziz, Moontaha Sheikh, Maryum Naz, and Aliyah Bakhressa—developed an innovative colouring book designed to support young children’s mental health. Their book encourages children to explore their emotions through poetry and friendly animal characters such as the Fearful Fox and the Grumpy Goat. By combining creativity with emotional awareness, the team created a meaningful and engaging resource to help children express their feelings in a safe and enjoyable way.
A Journey of Hard Work and Dedication
Winning this award is a testament to the team’s dedication and perseverance throughout the competition. From their market day in West Bridgford to the intense mid-MAT-day interview and their final presentation before the awards ceremony, they demonstrated outstanding commitment and teamwork.
It is also inspiring to see how the Young Enterprise programme appeals to students beyond Business Studies. Aliyah and Moontaha, who do not study Business, have still excelled in developing key entrepreneurial skills, proving that innovation and teamwork transcend subject choices.
Special Thanks
This success would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our dedicated mentors. A huge thank you to James and Dan for providing fundraising opportunities and answering endless questions, as well as Helen, whose printing contact was instrumental in bringing the team’s vision to life.
A Proud Moment for Bilborough College
This achievement highlights the entrepreneurial spirit and determination of our students. It is a fantastic reflection of the Bilborough College ethos, and we are incredibly proud of the Young Enterprise team for their hard work and well-earned success.
Congratulations once again to Amaan, Aaminah, Moontaha, Maryum, and Aliyah—we can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
