It is a full-time course for anyone with a serious desire to have a career in freelance acting or the performing arts.

The course is recognised and equivalent to 3 A Levels.

You will benefit from the following:

  • Rehearsal and final assessed production.

Entry Requirements – 5 GCSEs at 4 or above including English and Maths.

Our links with HE

The BTEC qualification is recognised by both Universities as well as employers.

Students who successfully complete this course can use the qualification to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to higher education, drama school, HND or other professional development programme.


Course Structure

The full qualification is 13 units: 7 of those mandatory, 6 optional.

You will be externally assessed in 4 of the mandatory units: Assessment is a task set task, marked under supervised conditions.

You will be internally assessed in the remainder of the units.

Internally assessed work includes portfolios, presentations and practical work.

Each unit is graded as ‘Pass’, ‘Merit’, or ‘Distinction’.

Topics include:

  • Investigating practitioners’ work.
  • Developing voice for performance.
  • Improvisation.
  • Screen acting.
  • Final live performance to an audience.
